At Home Home Solar Power

November 26th, 2009

Building your own solar panels can be a fun and easy way to do a lot of good for the world. It can also do a lot of good for your monthly electric bill. I’ve heard of cases where people were actually getting paid for adding energy to the grid, after they’ve met all of their own energy needs. Installing solar panels can be easy and affordable if you plan right. One of our neighbors just put up an RV solar panel system last week.

The first thing that usually discourages people from installing solar panels is the cost. For a residential home, commercial panels and installation can run upwards of $30,000 depending on where you live and how much of a system you want. However, if you do a bit of creative research, you can turn it into an enjoyable experience that’s fun for the whole family. Just follow these simple steps:

1. Buy a good instruction manual. I can’t emphasize this enough. Unless you’re already an expert, you probably won’t be able to pull this off with nothing more than a 4 minute YouTube clip. Installing this system is going to save you thousands; don’t skimp on 50 bucks upfront that will make the difference between a functioning system or not.

2. Research solar cells online. The solar cell is the main component of the system; it’s something that you can’t make on your own. Fortunately, they’re really cheap to manufacture. You should be able to find something online for around $70 per panel.

3. Find the other materials for the case. This should only take you a few minutes and under $30 per panel. I’ve seen sites claiming that you can get this stuff even cheaper. You also need to get the electronics you need (eg. wiring, converters, volt meter, etc.) that you need to complete the project. This will vary a bit for everybody, depending on what you plan to do, but your manual should tell you everything you need to know.

4. Build them! I’ve found this to be a fantastic family event, we’ve really enjoyed the time we spent together building the system. You could also invite the neighbors over and do it like a barn-raising. Whatever you like, but this part should be fun.

That’s all there is to it. If you commit just a small amount of time and money, you can have an efficient and effective system of solar panals

If you’d like to here some first hand experience about solar panal then look no further. We’ll show you just how easy it can be. If you’re interested in RV Solar Energy Panels, then this is the site for you.
